Consultancy

I am a population biologist and quantitative ecologist with over 15 years of experience in demographic modelling, biodiversity forecasting, and the analysis of population and ecosystem responses to climate and environmental change. My expertise lies in computational ecology, demographic and energy-budget modelling, and forward projections that inform conservation, resource management, and sustainable development.

My work bridges ecological data, statistical and mechanistic models, with policy applications. I have extensive experience in R and MATLAB, developing and applying population projection models (integral projection models, matrix models, individual-based models, and dynamic energy budget models) for marine, terrestrial, and urban ecosystems.

My research and consultancy work have contributed to international projects including the IUCN Species Survival Commission’s Marine Turtle Specialist Group and the DISCAR consortium on carnivore disturbance modelling. I have developed open-access biodiversity infrastructure such as the DEBBIES dataset (Scientific Data, 2024), now used internationally for comparative demographic analyses.

Recognised among the top 0.5% of global scholars in Population Dynamics (ScholarGPS, 2024), I combine analytical rigour with practical communication and stakeholder engagement. I regularly collaborate across sectors—academia, NGOs and policy institutions—to contribute quantitative ecological insights into actionable strategies for biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation.

I offer consultancy in:

  • Demographic and population modelling
  • Statistical analysis (ANOVAs, ANCOVAs, generalised linear models, descriptive statistics, etc.)
  • Population forecasting and population viability analysis
  • Climate–species interaction analysis
  • Data visualisation and quantitative reporting (e.g. for environmental policy)

On the use of AI:

I use AI and automation where they add real value—but I don’t treat them as universal solutions. My approach is rooted in quantitative reasoning and decades of experience in modelling complex systems. AI can support my work, but it doesn’t replace the scientific insight required to understand and forecast population and ecological change.
